“Scum” is a word that describes what floats on the surface of water — small remains, traces, something left behind.

In this book, Japanese photographer Taisuke Nakano presents a selection of black-and-white photographs taken after his previous series. Nude men appear within quiet, empty landscapes — rocky mountains, beaches, hotel bathrooms, unmade beds, deserted towns, and forests.

Unlike the bright, colorful world of his earlier work, SCUM is entirely black and white. It may feel cold at first, but as you move through the pages, the images begin to breathe. There is something raw and alive here — a quiet story unfolding in shadow and light.
