Tokyo-based photographer Mayumi Hosokura is known for capturing nature and youth with a soft, intimate touch. Her work often explores beauty in quiet, personal moments. She’s shown her work in Japan and internationally, including in Rome and Amsterdam.

'Cyalium' is themed around the interference of light and color and was published in 2019 in a limited edition of 500 copies.

The title is derived from the chemical luminescence "cyalume" and the element suffix "-ium," suggesting a connection to the chemical reactions that occur in darkroom photography. By layering a variety of images, including nudes, plants, minerals, and landscapes, with fluorescent colors and transparent materials, the book expresses visual interference and blank spaces.
