Hwahyun Kim is a visual artist based in Seoul whose work explores the line between dreams and reality.

Her book 'House of Violation' looks at how women imagine and idealize men. Inspired by the Japanese "boys’ love" genre (yaoi), which features romantic stories between men and is mostly read by young women, Hwahyun uses this style to challenge the traditional ideas of masculinity in Korean society.

By focusing on the image of the “beautiful man”, something rarely seen compared to idealized images of women, her work questions how we see gender and desire.
