Before becoming one of the most influential fashion designers of his generation, Hedi Slimane was already taking photographs. Photography has always been an important part of his practice.
Published in 2012, Anthology of a Decade: Europa (DE RU) brings together Slimane’s black-and-white photographs taken in Moscow and Berlin. In Moscow, he photographs young military academy students with quiet intensity. In Berlin, the images shift to street scenes, forests, waterfronts, and quiet moments of everyday life.
The atmosphere changes from place to place, but Slimane’s eye remains the same—precise, sensitive, and deeply attentive to youth, style, and mood.
Hedi Slimane is a French fashion designer, photographer, artist and curator. From 2000 to 2007, he held the position of creative director for Dior Homme (the menswear line of Christian Dior). From 2012 to 2016, he was the creative director for Yves Saint Laurent. He left the brand in 2016 and was creative director for Céline between 2018 and 2024.
