'Brief' is a catalog published for Tokyo-based photographer Mirai Hara’s 2009 exhibition at gallery ROCKET in Tokyo.

In this series, Hara photographs her subjects wearing only a pair of briefs. It’s a simple setup, but it creates a unique feeling—somewhere between vulnerability and ease.

By removing both full nudity and everyday clothing, Hara focuses on something more subtle. The images are not about fashion or overt sensuality, but about presence—small, honest moments where a person feels quietly exposed.

As Hara has said, she wanted to capture the “heart” of her subjects.

A fresh and thoughtful approach to portrait photography.
